Trellidor has been supporting Cape Town based The Sunflower Fund since it opened donor recruitment and PR offices in Durban nine years ago. The fund was started by parents whose children had contracted leukaemia, some of whom lost their battle against this blood disorder.
Their objective is to grow the bone marrow donor registry to a minimum of 100 000 to give those that fall ill a chance of finding a match. As of the end of last year, the national registry had grown to over 67 000 people. Ideally they need a registry of over 400 000 people, representative of all ethnic groups.
The annual Charity Ball is known for its glitz and glamour and is a rare opportunity for guests to dress up. This year it took place on Friday, 15th May with the purpose of paying tribute to The Sunflower Fund’s incredible achievements. All funds raised are used to give hope to patients diagnosed with leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders who are in need of a bone marrow stem cell transplant.
Let’s hear from organisers Stephanie Berry, Allison Naidoo and Tanith Rodney:
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Trellidor for their invaluable contribution to the success of The Sunflower Fund’s 9th Annual ‘Glamorous’ Charity Ball.
Thank you for once again coming on board as a valued co-sponsor of our annual Charity Ball and for believing that The Fund can truly make a difference. We would not be able to host the Ball without your generous sponsorship and for this we are extremely grateful and we are very proud to be associated with such a powerful and professional brand.
The Fund’s annual Charity Ball in association with IBV International Vaults raised a record amount of R305 000 which will pay for new potential donors to be included on the South African Bone Marrow Registry. This will directly give hope to patients diagnosed with leukaemia and other life threatening blood disorders.
Thank you so much for being willing to ‘Share a Little, Save a Life’.
